Flood Assessment & Hydraulic Modelling — Cairns
We provide flood inspection and structural assessment services for commercial and industrial structures in flood-prone areas across Far North Queensland. Where properties fall within the Cairns Regional Council Flood and Inundation Hazards Overlay, a flood impact assessment by an RPEQ engineer is required to support development applications and determine habitable floor levels. We provide the on-site measurement, hydraulic modelling and structural certification needed to satisfy these requirements.
Flood Impact Assessments & CairnsPlan 2016 Compliance
Properties within the Cairns Regional Council Flood and Inundation Hazards Overlay require a flood impact assessment to support development applications, building certification and habitable floor level determinations. We prepare RPEQ-certified flood assessment reports that address the requirements of CairnsPlan 2016, including overland flow, riverine flooding and storm tide inundation.
Post-Flood Structural Assessment & Damage Inspection
After a flood, structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls and buildings need to be checked before they go back into service. We inspect flood-damaged structures on site using instrumentation and material testing to determine what damage has occurred and whether the structure is safe. Where repairs are needed, we design the fix and provide RPEQ certification
Hydraulic Modelling & Flow Measurement
|
We combine on-site GPS-based flow measurements with hydraulic modelling software to determine flood levels and water forces on structures. Measuring actual flow at various depths means our models are calibrated with real data, not just desktop assumptions. This gives better results that can be used to support development applications, insurance claims and structural assessments.
